Why Should I Obey? Part 1

**A special note the quoted scripture is from TSR98 translation If you see weird characters or blank spots in the scriptures these are the names of God in their original form. Blank spots mean browsers did not understand what they were so it was ignored.

In opening with this blog I will be showing some of the great promises that are in the bible giving reason to take this obedience idea serious but I want to remind you briefly that we should not be looking at the promise but rather the action step that is our job to take care of. As I read through these promises I started to see just how much Adonai really does care about our lives.

I have noticed that people including myself treat things better that the value. If they don't value or treasure it they don't treat it well. I have especially noticed this in men who do not treasure their wives. I find this horrid and appalling that they are given such a wonderful gift as wife and treat her so badly. (Yes there is the side to that story. If you are woman place it the comments for people to read please I am a man and aim allot of what I write at men) I have been blessed enough to see a woman who was treasured by her husband the beauty that emanated from that 50+ year old woman was greater than any model I have ever seen. (Thank you Mr and Mrs. Beers for being someone to look up to) The thing that needs to understood here is that if we treasure something we treat it right. If we obey our Adonai He will treasure us. How much more can He treasure us than we can anything we value?

Deut 5:29 ‘Oh, that they had such a heart in them, to fear Me and to guard all My commands always, so that it might be well with them and with their children forever!

I look at this verse and see both a promise and a possible curse for our children. This promises that things will be well with those that obey and fear Him. But look at what it means if we don't obey. Things will not go well not just for us but also our children.
Yesterday I was getting some tires put on my (new to me) used car. While waiting for the job to get done I was sitting in the parking lot and a family came walking through the lot toward their car. What caught my attention was the what the father said and my unspoken response to him. He was talking to one of his children " Would you like my foot up your ***"  My response was "About as much as you want my foot in your face" Followed with, "If don't want your children to act like out of control hooligans that need you to talk like that to them, stop being someone who needs the same from his own dad. They are emulating you and if you don't like what you see then fix it. Start teaching them respect. You can do that by showing respect to people around you. Especially your wife."

This guy has stolen all the biblical promise from his children's life. Not that he cares but that is so sad to me. I wonder how much this verse could affect change in our children's lives. I read this verse again and I don't even see an age limit to it. Could that mean that even if we have adult children that our obedience might yet change the out come of their life?

This is a hard one, I could talk about leadership of family, I could talk about leadership in our country. I read this verse all I can say is that I greatly desire this promise to come true in my life. I am tired of being the tail end. It stinks. When I read this verse it makes me ask the question "Is there so few obedient people that this nation has fallin to a leader who supports ungodly things to this degree. The answer of coarse must be yes. All I can say is this. I will stand as One to be counted.
